Job summary

American Electric Power in Tulsa, OK seeks a Designer to create, revise, and maintain engineering drawings and related documents. You will gather information from sketches, field notes, and site visits, perform calculations, and coordinate with teams to ensure safe, efficient work.

The role requires 1–2 years of drafting experience or equivalent, an AAS in drafting/CAD or related field, and proficiency in CAD software and MS Office.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in AAS drafting/CAD or in civil, electrical or mechanical engineering technology, or relevant equivalent experience and/or education.
• One to two years of experience; Equivalent experience without AAS degree - high school graduate and six years of experience in electric utility/drafting.

Responsibilities

• Create, revise and maintain engineering drawings and sketches.
• Support the creation, revision, and maintenance of facilities and equipment documents including construction, equipment, and property records.
• Obtain information from verbal communication, sketches, marked drawings, field notes, vendors' catalogs and site visits.
• Perform mathematical calculations required to accomplish assigned work.
• Proficiency in CAD software and Microsoft Office.
• Coordinate with other Company teams to ensure safe and efficient work.
• Read vendor prints and operating instructions and incorporate into work.
• Assist in training AEP employees in basic skills of the position.
• Promote and support Safety and Health programs and corporate policies.
• Demonstrate ethical behavior and comply with Corporate Compliance policies.
• Assume other duties as assigned.
