Job summary

American Electric Power Co. designs and drafts engineering drawings for protection and control facilities in the Texas Corpus Christi area.

You will create, revise, and maintain engineering drawings and sketches and support documents for facilities and equipment, while working with engineering teams to ensure safety and efficiency. The role requires an AAS CAD or related degree (or equivalent experience), plus four years of drafting experience in electric utility settings.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in AAS CAD or related field or equivalent experience.
• High school diploma with four years of electrical utility/drafting experience.
• Must be available for overtime, overtime call-out, and shift work; travel >10%.
• Familiar with drafting symbols and color distinction; valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Create, revise and maintain engineering drawings and sketches.
• Support creation and maintenance of facilities and equipment documents.
• Read and incorporate information from vendor prints and drawings.
• Perform mathematical calculations for assigned work.
• Coordinate with Company teams to ensure safe, efficient work.
