Job summary

American Electric Power in Oklahoma is seeking a Designer to perform CAD drafting and related clerical tasks under general supervision. You will create and revise engineering drawings and maintain records in alignment with AEP requirements.

The role requires an AAS or equivalent in CAD or related field, or related experience, with 1–2 years in electric utility drafting. Overtime, travel and shift work may be required, with emphasis on safety and compliance.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in CAD drafting or related engineering technology or equivalent experience/education.
• 1–2 years of experience in drafting for electric utilities or related industrial drafting/CAD work.

Responsibilities

• Create, revise and maintain engineering and record drawings and sketches.
• Support creation and maintenance of facilities and equipment documents, including construction and equipment records.
• Obtain information from drawings, notes, databases and site visits to perform work.
• Perform mathematical calculations for assigned tasks.
• Proficient in CAD software and Microsoft Office.
• Coordinate with Company divisions to ensure safe and efficient work.
