Job summary

CesiumAstro in Austin, TX is seeking a Senior CAD Designer to support the mechanical engineering team with CAD modeling and drawings for satellites and aerospace hardware.

The role requires a technical degree or equivalent experience, 5+ years in CAD drafting, SolidWorks proficiency, and the ability to manage drawings, tolerances, and documentation under deadlines.

Experience with PDM tools, GD&T knowledge, and collaboration with MS Teams/Confluence/Jira is preferred.

Qualifications

• Technical degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 5 years as a CAD Drafter.
• Proficiency with CAD tools; SolidWorks preferred.
• Experience generating/modifying product models, drawings, documentation.
• Ability to read schematics, assembly drawings, and product specs.
• Familiarity with collaboration tools (MS Teams, Confluence, Jira).
• Ability to meet deadlines; strong organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide CAD drawing support (SolidWorks Drawings) throughout development.
• Generate/modify product models, drawings, and documentation.
• Identify issues in CAD designs and provide corrective actions.
• Manage mechanical data files and drawings.
• Prepare and incorporate engineering change orders.
• Input data and manage hardware structures in SolidWorks PDM.
