Job summary

X Energy, LLC is seeking a CAD designer/engineer to craft 3D models and 2D drawings for reactor/plant projects in a rigorous engineering environment. You will produce equipment layouts, PFDs, P&IDs, and isometrics, while ensuring manufacturability and proper documentation in the PLM system.

You will collaborate with engineers, update manufacturing drawings, and guide junior designers in delivering high-quality work on schedule. Onsite work is required in MD/TX with periodic travel.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in drafting, CAD, engineering or related field.
• Usually ten years of CAD/3D drafting experience; prior X-energy experience preferred.
• Experience with 3D CAD software (UG/NX, SolidWorks, Creo) or similar.
• Experience with 2D CAD software (AutoCAD, SmartPlant Electrical, MicroStation, Revit).
• Understanding electrical engineering codes and safety standards.
• Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software.

Responsibilities

• Create 3D CAD models and detailed 2D drawings of equipment, layouts, and SSCs.
• Assess models for manufacturability and assembly considerations.
• Prepare and update manufacturing drawings for projects.
• Serve as information source on equipment installations and plant design.
• Maintain design parameters, BOMs, and related documentation.
• Follow XE processes and CAD best practices; coordinate with team members.
• Lead small groups of designers and mentor junior staff.
