Job summary

Roblox in San Mateo, CA is seeking a senior engineer to design and ship 3D engine systems for avatar and environment geometry, focusing on performance across mobile and other devices. You will collaborate with Rendering, Avatar, Studio, and external developers to create high-quality experiences.

You will lead end-to-end projects, mentor engineers, and help maintain code health and technical excellence across the Geometry Scalability team.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional experience in high-performance systems such as game engines, real-time simulation, AR/VR, or related domains.
• Deep proficiency in C++, writing clean, efficient, scalable code for large codebases.
• Hands-on experience with production systems involving real-time 3D rendering, mesh/geometry processing, LOD, or GPU/client performance.
• Experience diagnosing CPU/GPU tradeoffs, memory, loading latency, and frame-time stability on mobile/console platforms.
• Track record of driving work end-to-end when requirements are unclear, from approach to production rollout.
• Excellent collaboration and communication across Engine, Rendering, Avatar, Studio, and developer-facing teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and ship 3D engine systems for avatar and environment geometry, including mesh processing, LOD, streaming, and performance tooling.
• Collaborate closely with Rendering, Avatar, Studio, and external developers to ensure features are usable for creating experiences.
• Profile and improve engine performance across devices with emphasis on mobile performance.
• Lead by example, mentor engineers, and uphold high technical quality and code health on the team.
