Responsibilities

  • Create an exciting and timely product assortment that meets and exceeds sales volume and profit goals.
  • Deliver sales and profit plans for assigned classes through merchandise strategy execution.
  • Respond to customer feedback and market trends.
  • Develop action plans driving category-specific growth and profitability.
  • Develop assortments based on store and direct strategies.
  • Expand product lines to enhance target-market appeal.
  • Analyze velocity reports and respond to current trends.
  • Represent key fashion trends and test emerging trends.
  • Finalize and merchandise product assortments for all channels.
  • Shop domestic and international markets to fill product gaps and identify chase opportunities.
  • Manage inventory levels and flow.
  • Develop new resources and design collaborations; manage artist relationships.
  • Negotiate prices to achieve markup goals.
  • Maintain a clear vision of store and direct customers' needs.
  • Work with Merchandising to develop storylines for websites, emails, and store presentations.
  • Analyze velocity, attributes, current-year/last-year performance, open-to-buy, markdowns, inventory flow, and returns.
  • Develop profitability strategies and conduct in-season and post-season analyses.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on evolving strategies.
  • Communicate trends, opportunities, successes, and failures at meetings.
  • Maintain the merchandising calendar.
  • Manage sample management and product information collection for style-outs, meetings, and photo shoots.
  • Train, manage, and delegate daily activities to the Buying team.
  • Oversee product information before turnover and develop storylines for all channels.
  • Drive and understand the private-label product development process.
  • Shop competitors and inspirational stores.
  • Read trade, trend, and consumer publications.
  • Stay connected to industry trends, fashion shows, design fairs, art exhibitions, and cultural events.
  • Challenge the Buying team to interpret seasonal trends for all channels.
