Job summary

Open Loop Energy, Inc. in Safford, AZ is seeking an experienced Senior Buyer to lead purchasing activities, negotiate with suppliers, and develop strategic sourcing aligned with production needs.

The role requires coordinating with Operations, Engineering, and Finance to ensure materials and services are available at competitive costs, while mitigating supply risks. You will mentor Buyer I/II staff, manage budgets and forecasts, and drive process improvements to raise performance and reliability

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, operations, or related field; relevant experience may substitute.
• 5+ years of purchasing/procurement/supply chain experience with supplier negotiations and strategic sourcing.
• Experience in leadership or supervision within a purchasing function.
• Proficient in ERP/MRP, inventory controls, supplier performance, data analysis, and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day purchasing activities and coach the purchasing team.
• Develop and execute sourcing and purchasing strategies that support costs, quality, and delivery.
• Establish and maintain strategic supplier relationships and hold vendors accountable.
• Monitor MRP, inventory levels, lead times, supplier capacity, and market conditions.
• Identify cost-reduction, inventory optimization, and purchasing process improvement opportunities.
• Monitor supplier performance measures, purchasing metrics, and procurement reporting.
• Partner with Operations, Engineering, Finance to align priorities with production schedules.
• Resolve significant supplier, pricing, delivery, quality, invoice, and contractual issues.
• Develop Buyer I and II through coaching, training, delegation, and feedback.
• Support budgets, forecasts, planning, and management reporting.
• Evaluate alternative suppliers and sourcing strategies to reduce risk.
