Job summary

Valar Atomics in California seeks a Senior Buyer to own procurement end-to-end for reactor construction and fuel laboratory programs. You will partner with engineering, operations, and project teams to align contracts, deliveries, and supplier performance with aggressive milestones.

The role requires deep sourcing expertise, independence, and the ability to operate in a fast-paced startup while ensuring 10 CFR 830 compliance and export controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's/Associate degree in a related field (Supply Chain, Business, Engineering)
• 3+ years in procurement, supply chain, or expediting including industrial/construction procurement
• Hands-on experience with PO processing, vendor management, and logistics coordination
• Experience expediting long-lead and critical-path equipment deliveries
• Proficiency with ERP systems, procurement software, and Excel
• Strong organizational skills and ability to work under tight deadlines
• Strong written and verbal communication for vendor and cross-functional coordination

Responsibilities

• Own procurement of process and power plant equipment, nuclear components, and construction materials from PO to delivery
• Process purchase orders and requisitions; maintain databases and tracking systems
• Track and expedite critical and long-lead equipment deliveries; anticipate risks
• Communicate with vendors to monitor production schedules and delivery commitments
• Support sourcing and supplier selection, including bid evaluations and vendor qualification
• Coordinate shipping, logistics, and delivery scheduling with project teams; include international freight and Incoterms
• Escalate supply chain risks and decisions to procurement leadership with options
• Ensure procurement activities comply with 10 CFR 830 and export/import regulations
• Support supplier audits, qualifications, and quality certifications with QA
• Maintain procurement records, supplier performance data, and delivery metrics
• Interface with project managers on material requirements and receiving schedules
