Job summary

Abbott is seeking a Senior Buyer in Pleasanton, CA, for a 5-month on-site engagement with potential extension. The role manages sourcing, procurement, and supplier relationships for direct materials and services, collaborating with Engineering and Operations on NPI and product changes.

The candidate should have 5+ years in procurement within regulated manufacturing, ERP/MRP experience, and strong negotiation and Excel skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Operations, or related field.
• 5+ years of procurement, sourcing, or purchasing experience in regulated manufacturing.
• Experience with direct materials and contract manufacturers.
• Knowledge of FDA-regulated manufacturing and supplier quality requirements.
• ERP/MRP experience (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, JD Edwards, etc.).
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Strong negotiation, communication, and supplier management skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage sourcing and procurement of direct materials, components, and services.
• Negotiate pricing, contracts, and supplier agreements.
• Create and manage purchase orders through ERP/MRP systems.
• Monitor supplier performance, delivery, and supply risks.
• Support supplier qualification, audits, and quality compliance.
• Partner with Engineering and Operations on NPI and product changes.
• Manage inventory planning, forecasting, and material availability.
• Drive cost reduction, sourcing strategies, and continuous improvement.
