Job summary

ThayerMahan, headquartered in Groton, CT, is seeking a Senior Buyer to oversee procurement of services, materials, and equipment. You will process purchase orders, negotiate terms with vendors, and coordinate with cross-functional teams to maintain visibility and timely deliveries for government and commercial projects.

You will review negotiations, manage documentation, and ensure compliance with internal policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, International Business, Logistics, or Business Administration.
• Minimum of 5 years in a subcontract management role or similar.
• Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
• Detail oriented and highly organized.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote).
• Hybrid environment capability.
• Strong interpersonal, teamwork, and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and routes Purchase Orders and Professional Service Agreements for internal review and external signatures.
• Provide continuous PO support while managing 10+ PO requisition forms.
• Engage with AP/Finance/Project teams on document statuses and questions.
• Participate in short- and long-term planning and budget development to support goals.
• Negotiate favorable terms with Seller and coordinate with General Counsel.
