Job summary

ThayerMahan, Inc. in Groton, CT is seeking a Senior Buyer to procure services, materials, and equipment, manage PO/PSA processes, and oversee multiple orders with attention to detail and strong vendor negotiations.

The role requires at least 5 years in subcontract management, effective communication, and familiarity with contract terms; a hybrid/onsite work setup is expected, with collaboration across internal teams and government-related vendors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, International Business, Logistics, or Business Administration.
• 5+ years in subcontract management or related roles with understanding of supply chain, PSA/PO negotiations, and legal terminology.
• Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
• Detail oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote).
• Willingness to work in a hybrid environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and routes Purchase Orders and Professional Service Agreements for internal review and external signatures.
• Provide continuous PO support while managing 10+ PO requisition forms.
• Engage with AP/Finance/Project teams on document statuses and questions.
• Participate in short- and long-term planning and budget development to support strategic goals.
• Negotiate favorable terms with Seller and coordinate with General Counsel.
• Implement process improvements and cost-reduction initiatives.
• Manage internal documentation for visibility across departments.
• Engage vendors for quotes and estimates.
• Represent ThayerMahan’s core values and policies.
