Job summary

Astrolab, The Lunar Operations Company, seeks a Sr. Buyer in Hawthorne, CA to source, negotiate, and purchase materials and services for engineering and operations teams, balancing cost, quality, and delivery timelines for lunar rover programs.

Reporting to the Director of Procurement & Supply Chain, you will manage supplier relationships, RFx processes, and contract negotiations, driving cost reduction and cross-functional collaboration to meet program schedules and budgets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in SCM, Business, Engineering, Operations, or related field with 3+ years in procurement.
• Experience sourcing suppliers and negotiating contracts.
• Experience managing multiple procurement projects using procurement software and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute commodity strategies to support NPI and production while optimizing cost, quality, and delivery.
• Perform supplier sourcing, RFx management, contract negotiations, and should-cost analyses to support buy decisions and long-term sourcing.
• Manage purchase orders, supplier performance, delivery schedules, and recovery efforts to ensure on-time material availability.
• Evaluate supplier capabilities, capacity, financial health, and performance through assessments and site visits.
• Partner with engineering, production, finance, and other teams to align procurement with schedules, budgets, and requirements.
• Negotiate terms, IP, export compliance, and ensure policy/regulatory compliance.
• Drive cost reduction, inventory optimization, and process improvements with leadership.
