Job description

Due to the nature of the work, candidates may work remotely but must be located within a reasonable distance of the Greater Los Angeles, CA Metro area to service accounts and attend in-office meetings.

As a Senior Business Development Representative, you will work remotely within our Industrial Coatings team, serving as a business leader and a core contributor to PPG's success. Your responsibilities include developing and managing account strategies, establishing strong relationships with new and existing customer decision-makers, forecasting long-term sales growth, and initiating improvement opportunities, pricing initiatives, and guidance for R&D product development and innovation. You will collaborate externally with customers and end-users, and internally with commercial, segment, and technical leaders to set strategic directions for each account.

Responsibilities :

  1. Develop new business and manage current accounts; create specific plans and technology goals with clear execution metrics.
  2. Promote PPG's growth by improving volume, sales revenue, and profitability.
  3. Develop deep customer relationships across the customer's organization utilizing PPG SBU and corporate management.
  4. Utilize Voice of the Customer (VOC) and deep customer knowledge to develop a forward-looking product development and qualification strategy, positioning PPG for future growth.
  5. Mobilize PPG resources to align with customer resources and needs, developing pricing and commercial guidance in collaboration with regional GMs and global segments.
  6. Identify long-term and short-term customer needs for new products based on detailed knowledge of customer technologies and future business directions.
  7. Collect and analyze customer and competitor information.
  8. Present a strategic plan addressing growth goals, trends, competitor activities, major customer profiles, and a five-year plan for products, customers, and growth.
  9. Work with the regional Sales Manager to develop pricing strategies.
  10. Assess if appropriate resources are in place to meet sales growth targets.
  11. Manage strategic contract negotiations and mobilize the team on finalized agreements.
  12. Implement sales and marketing initiatives with operations, product management, and technical teams to ensure customer satisfaction and effective new technology development. Maintain regular communication with the Regional Sales Manager regarding KPIs and progress toward goals.

Qualifications :

  1. BA/BS in business, engineering, chemistry, or a related field; or equivalent experience, training, and industry knowledge.
  2. 5+ years of B2B sales experience related to industrial products.
  3. Strong knowledge of the industrial coatings market.
  4. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
  5. Willingness to travel up to 50% to meet with customers.

Expected Base Salary Range: $100,000 - $125,000
