Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a Senior Business Analyst to support the Veterans Affairs department in a fully remote capacity. The role requires strong SAFe/Agile experience and a US citizenship.

You will capture business requirements for software projects, document acceptance criteria, and collaborate with IT, business users, and leadership using JIRA and ALM tools to drive timely delivery. A Master’s degree is preferred and Public Trust (MBI) clearance is desirable.

Qualifications

• Strong background in software development and SAFe methodologies.

• Advanced MS Office experience including Excel.

Responsibilities

• Lead the capture of business requirements for software development teams.
• Collaborate with business users, IT, and leadership to document requirements in an ALM tool.
• Manage requirements in an ALM tool.
• Perform Agile requirement management for a product team.
• Analyze user needs to determine functional, cross-functional, and technical requirements.
• Conduct user interviews and develop business process models and formal specifications.
• Gather and document requirements from customers, team members, stakeholders, and contractors.
• Elaborate user stories and decompose into backlog items with acceptance criteria.
• Use JIRA for requirements management, testing, and defect management.
• Collect, track, and monitor system and business requirements.
• Validate requirements and integration.
• Conduct backlog refinement sessions.
• Coordinate with Systems Engineers to assess impact on technical solutions.
• Manage and coordinate requirements for various projects.
• Write and deliver project documents to the client.
• Identify and manage risks and issues affecting progress.
• Develop and maintain the scheduled backlog(s).
• Own change control for requirements and develop Change Requests.
• Facilitate configuration management for project artifacts.
• Traceability among requirements, test cases, and risks.
• Report status and metrics across SAFe lifecycle.
• Analyze tasks and interrelationships to create well-documented stories.
• Become a product functional SME and mentor junior analysts.
• Establish relationships with product and business owners.
• Support development team to understand requirement details.
• Follow Scrum and deliver requirements for Sprint teams.
• Remove impediments to complete Sprints.
• Provide qualitative and quantitative information to teams and stakeholders.
• Support change control processes to monitor project scope.
