Job summary

Tishman Speyer is hiring an Engineer Level 3 for our Washington, DC property at 1730 Pennsylvania Avenue. The engineer will operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair facility equipment across all major systems, while upholding safety standards and delivering a welcoming environment for tenants and visitors.

The role requires a strong background in building systems with proficiency in BMS and MS Office, plus a customer-focused mindset.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or state equivalent or higher.
• 5 years of experience in a trade (plumbing electrical, HVAC, refrigeration, VAV boxes, etc).
• Experience reading blueprints and safety instructions.
• Experience with pneumatics, locksmithing, and balancing air and water.
• Experience using computers (BMS).
• Excellent communication skills.
• Preferred certifications: Universal CFC, General Certificate of Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate the facility in compliance with government requirements.
• Identify, enforce, and assess safety hazards and risks.
• Record readings and troubleshoot/equipment adjustments.
• Upgrade and recommend HVAC/electrical/plumbing control system enhancements.
• Review monthly service summaries to address recurring issues.
• Participate in incident investigations.
• Operate and maintain building systems including chillers, pumps, HVAC, and fire/life safety systems.
• Perform preventative maintenance and generate monitoring reports.
• Maintain HVAC systems at optimal levels and inspect/replace parts.
• Handle tenant inquiries professionally and respond promptly.
• Assist in emergency situations and snow removal when needed.
• May train less-experienced engineers.
