Job summary

PAE, a leading sustainable engineering firm, seeks a visionary Lead Building Performance Engineer to drive regenerative design from concept through construction. You will serve as the primary technical contact for clients, coordinating energy, water, carbon, daylighting, and resilience studies while guiding project teams.

You will mentor staff, shape project plans, and review analyses to ensure quality. The role integrates performance strategies into design, with hybrid work and a strong focus

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Building Science, or related field.
  • Professional licensure (PE, RA, or equivalent) preferred.
  • 5–10 years of experience leading building performance projects.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and building client relationships.
  • Strong technical leadership and project management skills.
  • Excellent client relationship and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Broad understanding of building performance areas: energy, enclosure, daylighting, comfort, and carbon.
  • Experience with integrated design workshops and proposals.
  • Experience supporting business development and proposals.

Responsibilities

  • Lead multidisciplinary building performance projects from concept through construction.
  • Serve as the primary technical contact for clients and develop long-term client relationships.
  • Lead project planning, staffing, scope, schedule, and budget and deliverables.
  • Coordinate technical assignments across the project team.
  • Guide staff in energy, water, carbon, daylighting, enclosure, resilience, and life cycle assessment studies.
  • Integrate building performance strategies into the architectural and engineering design process.
  • Lead project meetings with owners, architects, consultants, and contractors.
  • Review analyses and provide engineering guidance across multiple building performance disciplines.
  • Prepare and oversee reports, presentations, narratives, and technical recommendations.
  • Support proposals, interviews, scope development, and business development efforts.
  • Mentor and develop junior staff while improving standards and workflows.
  • Perform site visits and construction support as required.
