Job summary

The Washington Athletic Club (WAC) is seeking a Journeyman Engineer to join our Building Operations team in Seattle. The role focuses on daily operation, maintenance, and repair of building systems including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing to ensure a safe, efficient environment for occupants.

Ideal candidates have hands-on experience, a strong mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to high standards of safety and service for our members and staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical/vocational training preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in trade and building maintenance.
• Strong knowledge of commercial HVAC, electrical and plumbing systems.
• Proficient with electromechanical troubleshooting and able to read schematics and control logic on low/high volt systems.
• Basic welding skills and ability to use a wide variety of mechanical tools (hand and power).
• EPA Refrigerant 608 certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Respond promptly to maintenance requests, service calls, fire alarms, elevator problems, and emergencies.
• Troubleshoot, repair, install, maintain, and upgrade refrigeration/HVAC systems, electrical systems, plumbing systems, steam systems, hydronic heating/cooling, sanitary waste, pool/whirlpool equipment, fire alarm systems, kitchen equipment, laundry equipment, BAS/building control systems, and cable TV/A/V equipment.
• Recommend building repair and maintenance requirements and improve preventative maintenance programs.
• Order and maintain supplies for engineering-related needs.
• Clean and maintain mechanical areas and participate in department meetings.
• Other duties as assigned.
