Job summary

City of Placerville, California, seeks a Building Official to administer all building safety, code enforcement, and related city activities. The role oversees plan review, inspections, and enforcement of codes, managing staff and coordinating with other departments.

The position requires deep knowledge ofCBC, state laws, and regulatory due process, with experience in presenting cases in hearings and courts. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred and ICC certification is desirable.

Qualifications

• Education/Training: Associate’s degree in building construction, engineering, architecture or related field; Bachelor’s preferred.
• Experience: Five years in building/structural design, construction, plan check, inspection, or building technology; supervisory experience.
• License/Certificate: CA Driver license; ICC Building Official certification; ICEA/ICC certifications desirable.

Responsibilities

• Oversee plan review for completeness and code compliance.
• Plan, schedule, and review inspections for residential, commercial, and industrial structures.
• Enforce building, zoning, housing, nuisance, fire, and health and safety codes.
• Lead division staff, develop goals and procedures, and manage budget.
• Interface with the public, applicants, contractors, and City officials.
