Job summary

SAFEbuilt has the technical expertise to provide Community Development services, with a nationwide team of experts supporting a full range of professional services. We are seeking a skilled Building Official to join our team and handle code compliance, plan reviews, and client liaison responsibilities across diverse projects.

The role emphasizes extensive knowledge of local building code regulations, strong communication, and initiative.

Qualifications

• OH Commercial Building Official (CBO) (Lvl 5) OR Comprehensive Code Official (CCO) (Lvl 6) certification required
• Plumbing and/or electrical specializations are a plus (Level 2 or Level 3)
• Inspection experience preferred
• Client and team management experience in a building department setting preferred
• Must have a valid driver's license and a good driving record

Responsibilities

• Meet all state and locally mandated code compliance and reporting requirements.
• Apply knowledge of building codes, policies, and procedures to daily functions of the building department.
• Serve as the primary liaison with clients and ensure high-quality customer service.
• Attend department and community meetings as required by the client.
• Perform some plan reviews (commercial and residential) in all trades.
• Provide inspection support as needed.
