Job summary

The City of Coweta is seeking a Building Official to enforce building codes and related safety ordinances with integrity. You will issue permits, review plans, inspect sites, and advise on code compliance to protect public health and safety.

Required are a Bachelor's degree in a related field, 3–5 years of experience, an Oklahoma driver’s license, ICC CBO certification, and inspector licensing. MCP is preferred and a full-time, in-person role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field and 3–5 years of related experience.
• Valid Driver's License (Oklahoma).
• ICC Certified Building Official (CBO) certification.
• Combination Inspector licensing required.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and enforce building codes and related ordinances.
• Issue building and trades permits and related reviews.
• Inspect construction sites to ensure compliance with codes.
• Review plans and city codes for correct application.
• Prepare reports and attend public meetings as required.
• Develop and implement operating policies related to building safety.
