Blistex Inc. in Oak Brook, IL is seeking a Senior Mechanic, Building Maintenance to join our facilities team.

You will coordinate, schedule, and perform routine mechanical maintenance and repairs on building systems and support services across the Blistex complex. The role requires hands-on experience with HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and boiler systems, plus the ability to work with outside contractors, read blueprints, and follow safety procedures.

Qualifications

• A high school graduate, or equivalent; plus, diversified applied trade experience equivalent to 6 years.
• The knowledge and skills required for this position are typically acquired in 4 to 6 years of experience in an engineering environment.
• Ability to use hand and power tools, standard shop measuring devices, pipe fitting equipment, electrical wiring equipment, and welding equipment, etc.
• Must have the ability to negotiate with outside contractors for the best terms to benefit Blistex.
• Must have the ability to schedule and coordinate work and workflows of others as work requirements change.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates, schedules, and performs all necessary adjustments and repairs to effect correction of operating difficulties noticed by the Manager, Engineering, Group Leader or discovering through own observations to the building and building support systems.
• Coordinates, schedules, and performs replacement of high failure rate parts, such as light bulbs, filters, ceiling tiles, pipe or pipe fittings, and any component parts.
• Coordinates, schedules and performs daily set-up and start-up of building support systems.
• Coordinates, schedules and performs blow-down of boilers and compressors and checks on proper operating conditions.
• Makes a continuous visual inspection of the building to ensure that all building and building functions conform to AQL (acceptable quality levels).
• Coordinates, schedules, and performs cleaning all building support equipment and all necessary parts daily, or as specified.
• Coordinates, schedules, and performs services and repairs of all roof top HVAC units, exhaust units and air handling equipment.
