Job summary

The City of Gulfport is seeking a Building Maintenance Technician III to perform skilled and semi-skilled maintenance, repair, and construction tasks in city facilities. You will lead teams, supervise contracted staff, establish schedules, and ensure preventive maintenance plus readiness for emergencies.

Under direct supervision, you’ll manage resources, coordinate budgets, and oversee safe operation of electrical, plumbing, and carpentry work, including after-hours service as required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required, and two years experience in one or more of the building trades.
• Ability to lead teams effectively and supervise staff.
• Ability to establish harmonious working relationships across departments.

Responsibilities

• Plans, prioritizes, assigns, and supervises maintenance work city-wide.
• Ensures safe operation of equipment and adherence to procedures.
• Assists in maintenance and repairs of city properties and budget planning.
• Orders supplies, prepares routine work reports, and coordinates training.
• Performs preventive maintenance and after-hours service calls as needed.
