Job summary

The City of Florida is seeking a knowledgeable Technician II to maintain and improve city facilities, ensuring safety, function and visual appeal for staff and residents.

This role covers a wide range of trades, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, roofing, painting and carpentry. The ideal candidate has strong maintenance experience, can lead others, and works with minimal supervision to keep buildings compliant with codes and ADA standards.

Qualifications

• Advanced knowledge of general repair and maintenance techniques.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions and work independently.
• Ability to read blueprints and understand building plans.
• Willingness to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends and holidays.
• Experience with ADA compliance and city codes.

Responsibilities

• Perform general and advanced building maintenance and repairs (painting, carpentry, roofing, plumbing, electrical).
• Lead, assist and train other technicians; cross-train in other trades.
• Coordinate with contractors and vendors for repairs and maintenance services.
• Operate city CMMS software and read work orders; maintain records.
• Maintain HVAC systems, replace filters, and perform routine inspections.
• Assist in city events and disaster recovery operations.
• Work night, weekend, and holiday shifts as required.
