Job summary

The Village of Buffalo Grove seeks an experienced Public Works Crew Leader in Building Maintenance to supervise skilled trades, manage day-to-day crew operations, and ensure safe, high-quality maintenance of municipal buildings and street lighting.

You will mentor staff, coordinate work, and use Cartegraph for asset management; a Class B CDL with Air Brakes is required or obtained within 6 months. The role pays $83k–$125k in a structured municipal pay band and remains open until filled.

Qualifications

• HVAC/R training preferred and relevant skilled trades background.
• Minimum five years public works experience preferred.
• Valid Class B IL CDL with Air Brakes or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Strong knowledge of electrical distribution, HVAC systems and safety.
• Capable of using asset management software on mobile devices.

Responsibilities

• Lead a maintenance crew and coordinate daily tasks and priorities.
• Perform plumbing, carpentry, roof, HVAC maintenance and repairs.
• Oversee streetlight repairs and private contractor work as needed.
• Document work orders, labor and materials in Cartegraph.
• Ensure safety, quality standards and compliance with procedures.
