Job summary

AKAM is seeking a Chief Engineer to oversee maintenance for a high-rise condominium in Fort Lauderdale. You will supervise the maintenance team, coordinate with vendors, manage preventive maintenance, and support capital projects in collaboration with Property Management and the Board.

You will ensure safety, regulatory compliance, and efficient building operations, resolving issues promptly and maintaining detailed records for ongoing improvements and resident satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Hospitality, Construction, Facilities Management or equivalent (preferred) or technical/vocational training with 5–10 years of related experience.
• Minimum 5–10 years in building maintenance, with 3–5 years supervisory experience, ideally in high-rise settings.
• Extensive knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
• Proficiency with maintenance management software and tools.
• Strong leadership and communication skills for resident coordination.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, schedule, train, and evaluate maintenance personnel.
• Coordinate and manage preventive maintenance programs and inspections.
• Coordinate vendors, contractors, and service providers for repairs and upgrades.
• Maintain logs, records, and monthly reports to management and Board.
• Respond to emergencies outside normal hours and ensure safety of residents.
