Job summary

City of Fresno is hiring a Building Inspector III to examine, evaluate and approve complex residential and light commercial construction in accordance with the Fresno Municipal Code. Work within the Planning and Development Department, Inspection Services Division, in a role that enforces building, electrical, plumbing, and life-safety codes.

The position requires active ICC/ICBO/IPMC certifications and a valid CA driver’s license, with opportunities for advancement and a three-month eligible

Qualifications

• Experience: Three (3) years of experience as a residential or commercial building inspector with specified certifications.
• Education: Sixty (60) semester units from an accredited college or university in a related field. substitutable by additional experience/education as noted.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, evaluate, and approve complex residential and light commercial building projects per codes.
• Enforce Fresno Municipal Code regulations relating to fire, life and health safety, accessibility, and structural/nonstructural elements.
