Job summary

GBA’s Building Code Services team in Chesterfield, MO is seeking a senior inspector to join our office. The role focuses on commercial inspections, plan review support, and policy guidance in a collaborative environment.

You will perform multiple code inspections, review documents, and mentor junior staff while ensuring compliance with ICC and NFPA standards. This position includes regional/national travel and a strong emphasis on safety and quality.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience performing commercial code inspections with ICC Certification C5.
• 10+ years of experience performing commercial code inspections with (3) ICC commercial inspection certifications and obtain C5 within one year of employment.
• 15+ years of experience performing commercial code inspections and obtain C5 within two years of employment.
• Located in or willing to commute to Chesterfield, Missouri.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license.
• Proficiency with electronic plan review and inspection documentation tools including Bluebeam, ACC Build, and eBuilder on tablets and laptops.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Perform commercial building, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and fire protection inspections as described in ICC Codes and NFPA standards at various stages of construction for commercial projects.
• Maintain a high-level understanding of the adopted codes.
• Issue clear and concise inspection reports documenting the results of all inspections and deliver in a timely manner.
• Review construction documents and deferred submittals in preparation for inspections.
• Enforce compliance with the applicable codes and communicate clearly with designers and contractors regarding code deficiencies and inspection status.
• Review of Special Inspection reports for compliance with IBC Chapter 17.
• Train, coach, and mentor less experienced staff.
• Other duties as assigned.
