Qualifications

• Five years of experience in building code enforcement, including one year in a supervisory or lead inspector role.
• Knowledge of the Virginia Property Maintenance Code, Uniform Statewide Building Code and ICC family of codes.
• Must obtain required certifications within 12–18 months of hire; pre-employment checks required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a team of multi-discipline inspectors and serve as the Property Maintenance Code SME for residential inspectors.
• Perform inspection quality control and coordinate inspection functions with the supervisory team.
• Visit homes and businesses to assist inspectors; attend inter-agency meetings and resolve code/inspection issues.
• Develop, analyze and prepare reports; author letters, memorandums and other documents.
• Develop staff training, certification and career development activities; participate in Virginia Construction Code development.
