Job summary

SOCOTEC, a specialist in high-performance buildings, seeks a Building Envelope lead in the US to manage IPO projects and inspectors, advise on exterior wall performance, and coordinate cross-functional teams. The role emphasizes strong communication, code knowledge, and hands-on oversight of restoration tasks.

You will engage with architects and clients, review reports, and mentor staff while ensuring deliverables align with code requirements and project scopes.

Qualifications

• Register Architect or Professional Engineer preferred.
• 8+ years of experience with building envelope/restoration projects.
• Experience with industrial rope access.
• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Engineering.
• Knowledge of architectural design concepts and local codes.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings.
• Strong written and verbal communications skills.
• Excellent PC skills including Microsoft Word or equivalents.
• Ability to work in a dynamic team and multi-task.

Responsibilities

• Manage IRA inspectors and FISP projects; perform rope inspections.
• Consult on facade design for enhancement or maintenance projects; prepare bid documents and construction administration.
• Collaborate with internal teams on project requirements and budgets.
• Communicate with clients and management to meet timelines and deliverables.
• Familiarity with local building codes and Energy Codes.
• Advise on enclosure performance, constructability, and durability.
• Document and maintain detailed project reports.
• Oversee Restoration Division staff reports and progress.
• Manage manpower and provide training/mentoring to staff.
• Occasionally present white papers or case studies to technical teams.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.
