Job summary

Transwestern is seeking a Chief Engineer to lead on-site operations in Baltimore, MD. You will supervise engineers and maintenance staff, ensure HVAC, electrical, and life-safety systems run reliably, and manage vendor relationships to meet client expectations.

The role requires deep expertise in building automation, energy management, and preventive maintenance programs, with strong leadership and customer-service orientation. On-site work is essential, with no remote options.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years in building operations, with supervisory experience.
• Trade school trained; appropriate license/permit for trade as required.
• Experience with HVAC, boilers, pumps, refrigerant systems, and fire/life safety.
• Strong leadership, organization and vendor management capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Supervise engineers and maintenance staff, including hiring and training.
• Review daily work orders and assign tasks; monitor recurring issues.
• Oversee building systems, ensuring compliance with codes and client standards.
• Develop and execute a preventive maintenance program to extend asset life.
• Manage energy usage and EMS to minimize operating costs.
• Coordinate with tenants, clients, management and vendors; respond to emergencies.
