Job summary

Transwestern is seeking a Lead Building Engineer in Nashville, TN to manage complex preventive maintenance and repairs across building systems. You will monitor operations, supervise staff, and ensure spaces meet client standards.

The role requires HVAC and building automation expertise, energy-management know-how, and strong organizational skills. On-call duties may be required; safety is a priority.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and at least 2 years of related experience or trade school training.
• Minimum of 5 years building maintenance experience.
• Appropriate license/permit for trade as required (e.g., Journeyman/Master Electrician, Refrigeration Certificate of Fitness, Boiler license).
• Experience with HVAC, boilers, pumps, refrigeration systems and related building systems.
• Knowledge of energy management systems and operations.
• Thorough understanding of building systems operations, maintenance and repair.
• Proficient with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• Strong organizational and analytical skills; ability to present information effectively.
• Shift work and/or on-call duties may be required.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and climb ladders.

Responsibilities

• Review daily work orders and assign tasks; monitor recurring issues.
• Oversee and inspect engineering staff work for completeness and space readiness.
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs.
• Inspect building systems (fire alarms, HVAC, plumbing) for operation within design specs.
• Estimate time and materials for repairs; manage supplies and tools.
• Coordinate with Chief Engineer/Property Manager and clients to schedule downtime.
• Perform repairs, emergency and preventive maintenance; maintain records.
• Respond swiftly to emergencies and request additional help as needed.
• Maintain energy management programs to minimize operating costs.
• Maintain personal and team safety; perform other duties as assigned.
