Job summary

CBRE is seeking a Sr Building Engineer for a mission‑critical hospital campus in Rowlett, TX. You will oversee daily maintenance, direct on‑site teams, and ensure safety, compliance, and peak performance of complex building systems including HVAC and life‑safety infrastructure.

This role requires hands‑on leadership, collaboration with clinical and facilities staff, and the ability to coordinate with third‑party contractors while maintaining SLAs and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma with 5‑8 years of job‑related experience.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, manage team workflows, and make independent decisions in a high‑pressure environment.
• Meet the physical requirements of this role including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and the ability to lift/carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.
• The innovative mentality to develop methods that go beyond existing solutions.
• Ability to solve unique problems using standard and innovative solutions having a broad impact on the business.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
• Expert organizational skills with an advanced inquisitive mindset.

Responsibilities

• Manage and direct daily maintenance workflows, ensuring work orders are completed efficiently and within SLAs.
• Perform hands‑on maintenance on building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and general facility infrastructure.
• Lead the implementation of a robust preventive maintenance program to extend equipment lifespan and minimize downtime.
• Utilize and monitor BAS platforms to manage environmental conditions and optimize energy efficiency.
• Oversee third‑party contractors, including scheduling visits, coordinating access, and auditing work for quality and contract compliance.
• Serve as primary responder for facility emergencies and critical system failures.
• Ensure maintenance activities align with healthcare regulatory requirements and life safety codes.
• Travel to local satellite facilities as needed to provide technical support.
• Interact professionally with clients, co‑workers, and supervisors.
• Coach others to develop in‑depth knowledge and expertise across disciplines.
• Lead by example and model CBRE RISE values in influencing stakeholders.
• Contribute to multi‑discipline team objectives and operational plans.
