Job summary

Bevara Building Services in Phoenix, AZ seeks a Lead Building Engineer to oversee daily operations, maintenance, and repair of building systems while mentoring the engineering team. You will ensure safety, efficiency, and compliance across properties, reporting to the Regional Engineering Manager.

This role requires 3–5 years in facilities operations with 2+ years in supervision, strong communication, and hands-on expertise with BAS, chillers, and life-safety systems.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years in commercial building or facilities operations with 2+ years in supervision.
• Experience leading multi-site operations and capital projects.
• Strong communication to explain technical issues to non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience with Class A offices or medical offices.
• Knowledge of chillers, boilers, pumps, cooling towers, BAS.
• High School Diploma or GED; technical certification preferred.
• Proficient with CMMS/work order systems and Microsoft Office.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between properties.
• Ability to work in varying environments (mechanical rooms, outdoors, etc.).
• Mentoring engineering staff and promoting accountability.

Responsibilities

• Lead and conduct preventive maintenance and repairs on mechanical, industrial, plumbing, structural, life safety, and control systems.
• Mentor and develop building engineers; provide feedback and staffing support.
• Oversee work orders, assignments, and timely completion by staff.
• Manage BAS/EMS for energy efficiency and occupant comfort.
• Inspect fire/life safety systems and emergency equipment.
• Direct vendors and contractors to uphold standards and safety.
• Respond to after-hours service requests and emergencies.
• Maintain CMMS documentation of activities and inspections.
• Oversee capital improvement and tenant enhancement projects.
• Ensure safety policies and professional conduct are maintained.
