Job summary

Johnson Controls in Honolulu is seeking a Controls Service Technician 5 to perform service, repair, design, configuration, and operation of complete HVAC building control systems, and to develop software, commission systems, and prepare submittals for customers and stakeholders.

The role requires at least 5 years of experience with control systems and Metasys, strong networking, and the ability to explain technical information to non-technical audiences.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience with programming, installing, and/or commissioning controls systems, including system-level controllers.
• 5 years of Metasys experience
• Demonstrated knowledge of construction, service mechanical, electrical, or HVAC service industry.
• Knowledge of mechanical drawings, electrical wiring diagrams, control theory, building automation systems.
• Experience integrating low-voltage building sub-systems using Modbus, LON, BACnet.

Responsibilities

• Design, configure, service, and troubleshoot technically complex building control systems at customer facilities.
• Create flow diagrams, sequences of operation, bills of material, network layouts, and electrical schematics for service, repair, or installation work.
• Develop, test, and adjust software programs required to operate systems per customer requirements.
• Coordinate drawings, equipment schedules, and submittals to support service execution and project documentation.
• Load and commission system-level and network-level controllers and verify full system functionality.
• Troubleshoot system and field issues with subcontractors and other trades to ensure proper operation.
• Provide field change information for as-built drawings and software updates.
• Keep management, contractors, and customers informed of progress, risks, and open issues.
• Support site-specific training for owners and operators on the total building control system.
• Participate in release meetings with sales and service operations and perform value engineering.
