Job summary

Siemens is seeking a Senior Building Automation Design Engineer – PLC & Industrial Controls to lead design for data centers, pharmaceutical facilities, laboratories, and other critical environments. You will develop control strategies, networks, and documentation while collaborating across disciplines to ensure successful project execution.

The role requires 5+ years in building automation and travel up to 25%.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED.
5+ years in building automation, HVAC controls, or PLC design.
Proven ability to lead complex automation projects with minimal supervision.
Strong knowledge of building automation systems, HVAC controls, PLC/DDC architecture.
Proficiency with AutoCAD, Visio, or similar tools.
Experience documenting controls narratives, I/O lists, layouts, diagrams, and sequences.
Ability to travel up to 25%.
Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

Lead design of building automation and PLC control solutions for data centers and critical environments.
Translate requirements into complete control system packages including drawings and BOMs.
Design PLC and DDC control strategies for HVAC and central plants.
Develop automation network architectures using BACnet, Modbus, Profinet, EtherNet/IP.
Collaborate with programmers, project managers, technicians to ensure executable designs.
Lead engineering reviews, QA checks, and risk assessments.
Mentor engineers and drive design standards across projects.
