Job summary

Siemens is seeking a Senior Building Automation Design Engineer – PLC & Industrial Controls to lead design of automation and PLC-based control solutions for data centers, laboratories, and critical environments. You will translate requirements into complete design packages and develop robust control strategies.

The role requires 5+ years in building automation, HVAC controls, or PLC design, proficiency with AutoCAD/Visio, and travel up to 25%.

Qualifications

5+ years in building automation, HVAC controls, or PLC-based design.
Proven ability to lead complex automation projects with minimal supervision.
Strong knowledge of building automation systems, PLC/DDC architecture, and engineering best practices.
Proficiency with AutoCAD, Visio, or similar drafting tools.
Experience with BACnet, Modbus, Profinet, EtherNet/IP.
Willingness to travel up to 25%.
Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

Lead the design of building automation and PLC-based control solutions for data centers and critical environments.
Translate project requirements into complete control system design packages (drawings, BOMs, narratives).
Design PLC and DDC control strategies for HVAC systems and central plants.
Develop automation network architectures using BACnet, Modbus, Profinet, EtherNet/IP, and Siemens APOGEE/Desigo.
Collaborate with programmers, commissioning specialists, and technicians to ensure executable designs.
Perform design reviews, QA checks, and risk assessments for project success.
Mentor engineers and drive standards across complex projects.
