Job summary

Siemens is seeking a Senior Building Automation Design Engineer – PLC & Industrial Controls to design advanced building automation, HVAC controls, and PLC-based systems for data centers, pharmaceutical facilities, laboratories, central utility plants and other mission-critical environments.

Lead the design package, including drawings, panel layouts, I/O lists, network architecture and sequences of operation, and ensure submittal requirements and safety interlocks are met.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required for baseline qualification.
• 5+ years in building automation, HVAC controls, or PLC-based design.
• Experience leading complex automation projects with minimal supervision.
• Strong knowledge of building automation systems, PLC architecture, and electrical controls.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Visio, and similar design tools.
• Experience with BACnet, Modbus, Profinet, EtherNet/IP and system integration.
• Willingness to travel up to 25% and eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design of building automation and PLC-based control solutions for critical facilities.
• Translate requirements into complete control system packages with drawings and I/O lists.
• Develop network architecture, BOMs, sequences of operation, and commissioning docs.
• Design PLC/DDC control strategies for HVAC and central plant systems.
• Collaborate with programmers, managers, and field technicians to ensure executable designs.
• Perform design reviews, QA checks, and risk assessments to ensure project success.
• Mentor engineers and drive standards, processes, and best practices.
