AXIS Capital is seeking a Senior Underwriter for Builders Risk. The role focuses on developing strong broker and client relationships, identifying profitable new business opportunities, and building a quality book for the US Construction unit.

The position is hybrid, based in one of our offices, with travel to meet brokers and clients. The ideal candidate has extensive builder’s risk knowledge, strong underwriting judgment, and the ability to drive disciplined growth while managing a diverse

Qualifications

• 5+ years of builder’s risk underwriting experience focused on large accounts (TIV > $200 million).
• Proven track record delivering profitable results.
• In-depth knowledge of builder’s risk coverage, pricing, and marketplace dynamics.
• Able to analyze risks and communicate underwriting concepts to diverse audiences.
• Able to work autonomously as well as in a team setting.
• Capable of handling time constraints for quoting new and renewal business.

Responsibilities

• Establish oneself as a go-to expert for builder’s risk with brokers and customers.
• Analyze and qualify opportunities based on appetite and communicate clearly.
• Underwrite within the governance framework.
• Negotiate pricing, terms and conditions for risks that align with appetite.
• Develop relationships with broker partners to support retention and growth.
• Identify new business opportunities and manage a mixed portfolio of new and renewal business.
• Attend industry events and collaborate with colleagues to meet client needs.
• Support or train lower-level underwriters or assistants as needed.
