AXIS Capital is seeking a Senior Underwriter for Builders Risk to support the US Construction team. The role focuses on Project and Master Builders Risk solutions, building a quality book of business and strong broker/client relationships.

The ideal candidate has extensive underwriting expertise, portfolio management skills, and the ability to drive disciplined growth. This hybrid role requires in-person engagement with brokers and clients across multiple US offices.

Qualifications

• Experience in builder’s risk underwriting for large accounts.
• Proven ability to deliver profitable results.
• Strong knowledge of coverage, pricing, and market dynamics.
• Ability to analyze risks and communicate underwriting concepts clearly.
• Capable of working autonomously and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Establish as a go-to builder’s risk expert with brokers and clients.
• Analyze and qualify opportunities based on appetite and communicate them clearly.
• Underwrite within underwriting governance framework.
• Negotiate pricing, terms and conditions for risks that fit appetite.
• Develop relationships with broker partners to support retention and growth.
• Proactively seek new business opportunities in the market.
• Manage portfolio (new and renewal) to meet organizational goals.
• Attend industry functions and events as a AXIS representative.
• Lead partnership meetings with brokers and customers to identify improvements.
• Collaborate with colleagues across the organization to meet client needs.
• Support lower-level underwriters or underwriting assistants as needed.
