AXIS Capital is seeking a Senior Underwriter – Builders Risk to lead the portfolio for Project and Master Builders Risk in the US. The role focuses on profitable growth, strong broker relationships, and disciplined underwriting within a governance framework.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of builder’s risk underwriting experience with large accounts.
• Proven track record delivering profitable results.
• In-depth knowledge of builder’s risk including coverage, pricing, and market dynamics.
• Ability to analyze risks and communicate underwriting concepts to diverse audiences.
• Ability to work autonomously as well as in a team setting.
• Capability to manage time constraints for quoting new and renewal business.

Responsibilities

• Establish yourself as a go-to builder’s risk expert with brokers and clients.
• Analyze and qualify opportunities based on appetite and communicate accordingly.
• Underwrite within the governance framework.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and participation on risks that fit appetite.
• Develop relationships with broker partners to support retention.
• Seek out new business opportunities and manage portfolio across renewals.
• Attend industry events as a respected AXIS team member.
• Conduct partner meetings to identify success areas and improvements.
• Collaborate across the organization to meet customer needs.
• Mentor lower-level underwriters or underwriting assistants when needed.
