Senior BU EHS Leader – Construction Safety & Compliance

Job summary

Turner Construction Company is seeking an experienced EH&S leader to drive the Environmental Health & Safety program across the BU. You will partner with BU leadership to enforce company EH&S policies and mentor site safety professionals to achieve zero incidents and continuous improvement.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in safety/engineering, CHST certification, 10+ years of construction safety experience, and strong incident management skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Engineering, or related field, with minimum 10 years construction safety experience.
• CHST certification required or within 6 months of appointment.
• OSHA 30-hour training and maintain current First Aid/CPR/BBP and AED certifications.
• Expert knowledge Federal, State, and local Environmental Health & Safety regulations.
• Experience in incident management and response, ability to assess construction processes to identify known and potential safety related exposures and lead implementation of corrective actions.

Responsibilities

• Build working relationships with BU leadership and provide direction for implementing cultural changes in EH&S.
• Execute EH&S policies and procedures and enforce compliance with BU and company requirements.
• Identify, eliminate, and control hazardous conditions that may lead to injury and/or property damage using safety standards, best management practices, and EH&S policies and programs.
• Influence and motivate project site teams and drive cultural changes and continuous improvements through development and execution of comprehensive EH&S program.
• Collaborate with Operations Manager to develop BU goals and implement proactive programs to reduce incidents, injuries, near misses, and claims costs.
• Develop and execute Annual EH&S Plan and related goals aligned with HQ EH&S requirements; drive progress and implement improvements.
• Conduct audits using HQ EH&S approved systems and report progress to HQ EH&S and BU leadership.
• Build relationships with regulatory agencies to promote Turner safety programs and manage regulatory exposures.
• Mentor and coach EH&S professionals and create inclusive environment to facilitate learning and communication.
• Participate in EH&S recruiting, onboarding, development, career progression in collaboration with BU leadership and HR.
