Job summary

Mediacom Communications is looking for a Broadband Specialist IV, Maintenance to perform field technical work and maintain the HFC plant from node to tap. Responsibilities include routine maintenance, fault repair, and turn-on of new distribution systems, with emphasis on RF troubleshooting and safety.

Qualified candidates typically have a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver's license, and 5+ years’ experience in cable tech or 6+ months as Broadband Specialist III.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; Associates degree preferred.
• Valid driver’s license; satisfactory driving record required.
• Minimum of 6 months’ time as Broadband Specialist III or 5+ years’ equivalent cable technician experience.
• 18 months tenure as a Mediacom BBS III or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of HFC plant, installs and service calls; ability to work in all weather conditions and at various heights.

Responsibilities

• Conduct system tests such as signal/noise, signal/hum, sweep, chart recording and return loss checks; RF knowledge and troubleshooting.
• Set trunk levels, install and change trunk amplifiers, and calculate signal losses.
• Install electronics and power connections; maintain power supplies.
• Troubleshoot and repair coaxial and fiber distribution systems.
• Prepare estimates for projects and bill of materials.
• Climb poles and ladders; lift up to 100 lbs; work in confined spaces.
• Perform installations and changes of service adhering to codes and safety practices.
