Job summary

BKF Engineers, Inc. seeks a seasoned Bridge & Structures Project Manager to lead pursuit, design, and delivery of complex bridge projects in Northern California and the Central Valley. You will drive client development, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, and guide projects from proposal through construction.

The role requires a California P.E. license and 12+ years in bridge/structural design and PM. A flexible work environment is offered with regional bases and some travel.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil Engineering is required; M.S. in Structural Engineering is preferred.
• California Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is required.
• 12+ years of progressive experience in bridge and structural design and project management.
• Strong understanding of bridge design codes, seismic principles, and construction practices.
• Proven success in leading teams, client management, and delivering complex capital projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead bridge and structural engineering projects from pursuit through construction, including proposal development and client interviews.
• Build and maintain relationships with clients, agency partners, and teaming consultants across Northern and Central California.
• Manage multidisciplinary project teams and coordinate with civil, survey, environmental, and construction stakeholders.
• Oversee and mentor engineers in PS&E packages, technical studies, reports, and calculations.
• Perform and review bridge analysis and design using bridge-specific software.
• Ensure designs comply with codes including AASHTO LRFD and seismic design requirements.
• Provide construction support, site visits, RFIs, and review of shop drawings.
• Lead bridge inspection and preventative maintenance projects as applicable.
• Communicate complex technical concepts clearly in writing and verbally for clients and staff.
• Manage project schedules, budgets, workload, and performance metrics across multiple assignments.
