Job summary

BKF Engineers seeks a senior Bridge & Structures Project Manager to lead pursuit, design, and delivery of complex bridge projects across Northern California and the Central Valley. You will guide client development, multidisciplinary teams, and execution from proposal through construction.

Role emphasizes regional presence with occasional travel, strong leadership, and collaboration across offices in a flexible work environment. A PE license and extensive bridge experience are essential.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil Engineering required; M.S. preferred.
• California P.E. license required.
• 12+ years of progressive experience in bridge and structural design and project management.
• Strong understanding of bridge design codes, seismic principles, and construction practices.
• Proven success in leading teams, client management, and delivering complex capital projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead bridge and structural projects from pursuit through construction, including proposal development and client interviews.
• Build and maintain relationships with clients, agency partners, and teaming consultants across Northern and Central California.
• Manage multidisciplinary project teams and coordinate with civil, survey, environmental, and construction stakeholders.
• Oversee engineers in preparing PS&E packages, technical studies, reports, and calculations.
• Perform and review bridge analysis and design using bridge-specific finite element software.
• Ensure designs comply with AASHTO LRFD and seismic design requirements.
• Provide construction support, site visits, RFIs, and review of submittals.
• Lead bridge inspection and preventive maintenance projects when applicable.
• Communicate complex technical concepts in writing and verbally with professionalism.
• Manage project schedules, budgets, and performance metrics across concurrent assignments.
