Job summary

Virginia Department of Transportation seeks a civil/structural engineer to design and analyze bridges and structures for new construction, maintenance and rehabilitation projects. You will review plans, prepare drawings and provide technical guidance to ensure AASHTO and VDOT specifications are met.

Responsibilities include data analysis, reporting, coordinating with staff and consultants, and delivering projects on time. PE or EIT is preferred; strong communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Combination of training, experience or education in Civil Engineering or related field.
• EIT or PE license preferred.
• Experience in design and analysis of bridges and structures.
• Familiarity with AASHTO LRFD standards.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and interpret engineering data and information; prepare clear reports and recommendations.
• Design, analyze and check structural elements for new construction and rehabilitation projects.
• Prepare bridge plans, sketches and drawings; ensure compliance with AASHTO/VDOT specs.
• Provide technical guidance and manage project scope, schedule and deliverables.
• Communicate with internal staff, consultants and the public; participate in meetings.
