Job summary

Virginia Department of Transportation seeks a Civil Engineer to design and detail structures and bridges for new construction and rehabilitation projects. You will check determinate and indeterminate structures to meet AASHTO specifications and prepare plans, quantities, and materials estimates.

You will provide engineering support, prepare analyses, and communicate with internal staff, local governments, consultants, and FHWA.

Qualifications

• Experience applying civil engineering principles including strength of materials, statics and structural analysis.
• Ability to interpret construction plans and design specifications.
• Knowledge of AASHTO and LRFD design standards.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and design bridge and structure plans for new, maintenance, and rehab projects.
• Ensure plans meet AASHTO and VDOT specifications and safety standards.
• Coordinate with stakeholders and manage project scopes, schedules, and budgets.
