Job summary

Moffatt & Nichol in Richmond seeks a Structural Engineer – Bridge Focus to join our Structural Group. You will work on design and rehabilitation projects for transportation structures, coordinating with other disciplines and clients to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.

The role requires a Civil Engineering degree, PE registration, 10+ years of bridge or marine design experience, and proficiency in advanced software such as STAAD, SAP2000, CSiBridge, and Microstation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline required.
• Master’s degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with structural emphasis preferred but not required.
• 10+ years of design experience in bridge or marine structures.
• Design experience in both a plus.
• PE registration required.
• Prior experience working on VDOT or other DOT projects preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develops plans, specifications, and inspection reports as needed.
• Design of structures in civil transportation including bridges and related structures.
• Maintain quality control of the work product and ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
• Assist in resolving design problems with field investigations, detailed design work, and coordination.
• Calculate quantity and cost estimates.
• Lead project tasks by coordinating, scheduling, and supervising team members.
• Work closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects.
• Interact with clients at staff and project management levels.
