Job summary

Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) seeks a Bridge and Structural Engineer to support bridge design, preservation, load rating, plan development, and technical support for transportation projects. Located in East Baton Rouge Parish, reports to the Engineer 7/Bridge Inspection Engineer.

Qualifications include possession of a current Louisiana PE license and 2 years licensed experience or 6 years of professional engineering experience; ABET-accredited degree substitutions

Qualifications

• Possession of a current Louisiana professional engineer license.
• Two years of licensed engineering experience; or six years of professional engineering experience.
• ABET-accredited engineering degree substitutions exist for experience requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assists with bridge and structural design activities for transportation infrastructure projects.
• Reviews or prepares plans, calculations, specifications, estimates, and structural details.
• Performs or assists with bridge load ratings, structural evaluations, or bridge preservation activities.
• Provides technical support related to bridge rehabilitation, replacement, preservation, or new capacity projects.
• Coordinates with project managers, consultants, districts, construction staff, and other internal or external partners.
• Reviews bridge-related project documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable standards.
• Supports development or maintenance of design guidance, standards, procedures, or technical documents.
• Assists with emergency response or technical reviews involving bridge or structural concerns.
