Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a field Inspector to inspect and monitor construction activities at project sites, primarily for transportation projects. The role requires knowledge of roadway, bridge, drainage, and related inspection practices and involves working on-site at multiple locations.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent, relevant certifications if required, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Certifications from a State Highway Agency or national entity such as ACI or NICET if required by client/jurisdiction.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• Travel up to 20%–40% may be required.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex and routine inspections to ensure materials and processes meet plans and specifications.
• Use higher-grade equipment and perform complex calculations for inspection work.
• Work under supervision appropriate to demonstrated knowledge for the assignment.
• Review drawings to prepare for construction inspection.
• Document and communicate inspection results to supervisor.
